Methodology
CargoAi's Cargo2ZERO emissions are calculated using the ICAO standard as defined in IATA RP 1678.
For every CargoAi schedule, route and AWB tracked, we use the exact routing and aircraft code to compute:
- CO2 TTW (Tank-to-Wake)
- CO2e TTW
- CO2e WTW (Well-to-Wake)
Why we did not adopt the latest IATA update
CargoAi has chosen not to adopt the latest IATA methodology update. In our analysis it appears to favor freighter flights over the belly space of passenger flights, which goes against the sustainability commitments most of our customers have made.
We will continue to monitor the methodology landscape and update Cargo2ZERO when a change clearly benefits the industry's decarbonisation goals.
