Q: What rate types are available in the CargoCONNECT Rates API?
A: Here are the different rate types you can get:
Promo Rates
Contract rates and Market rates can also be Promo rates, subject to the availability of the integrated airlines.
This means that the rates only apply to a certain validity period.
Contract Rates
Specifically negotiated rates between the Forwarder and the Airline.
Bookable through own IATA CASS or co-loaders' IATA CASS.
The settlement for the Co-Loader rate is facilitated by CargoMART payments embedded within the CargoMART/FlyWINDOW environment.
Contract rates uploaded via rate sheet can't be booked through own IATA CASS or co-loader's CASS. Contract rates can only be booked when they come directly from the airline API.
Live (Dynamic) Rates
Rates directly retrieved from the airline's system via API, bookable through own IATA CASS or through Co-Loader CASS facilitated by CargoMART Payment flow embedded within the CargoMART/FlyWINDOW environment.
Market Rates
Rates coming from rate sheets with weight breaks applicable to all forwarders.
Market rates can't be booked through API or CargoMART/FlyWINDOW environment; however, within the CargoMART/FlyWINDOW environment, users can trigger a manual quote request with the airline.
Express Rates
Contract rates and Market rates can also be Express rates, subject to the availability of the integrated airlines.
This means that these rates guarantee a higher service priority and shorter lead time.
Special Case
As seen above, Express rates are a part of almost all types of rates. When it comes to Express, the rate type will always take the value express, no matter if it's live, contract, market or promo.
In this case, in order to understand the origin of the rate you can use the name field, which will take the value market, contract or promo if it's a static rate. All other values in name for express inform that the rate is coming from API.
Otherwise, in general for the name field in rate, there is no specific mapping.
Most of the time they are the labels airlines wants us to display to users based on rate and current season/market, in other words, the name can vary for numerous reasons and should be displayed as it is.
